The Oases
An oasis is an area where underground rivers and streams supply water to the surface. 200,000 sq. km of the sahara is oases. Most of the oases in the sahara have dried out, but there are still about one hundred large oases left in the sahara. Small oases can only support one family while large oases can support whole towns. Many tribes live in oases such as the Tuareg tribe. The fertile soil of the oases grow date plants, fruits, vegetables, and grain.
