Geography, Weather and Landforms

Japan has an interesting geography, the northern half of Japanese Islands are cold and snowy while the southern section of the islands are hot and humid.

A rainy season lasts from June to July in the Southern sections where floods may occur.

The Japanese Alps are the highest mountains in Japan, at 9,800 feet above sea level and on average 6,500 feet taller than other mountains. Most of the lakes are found in narrow valleys in the mountains so they are not very big.
